Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 73rd Birth Anniversary of Shahid Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner. The programme began with laying flower wreaths at the portrait of Shahid Captain Sheikh Kamal at the Embassy premises by Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury in presence of officials of the Embassy and members of the Bangladesh community. Special prayers were offered for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Shahid Captain Sheikh Kamal and the martyred family members of Bangabandhu, all the valiant freedom fighters and martyrs of the glorious war of liberation.
In the discussion session organized on the significance of the day, messages given by the President and Prime Minister were read out and a documentary on the life and work of Shahid Captain Sheikh Kamal was screened. The discussants recalled Captain Sheikh Kamal’s contributions in areas of sports and culture.
