Visa


Foreign nationals (unless exempted) require a valid visa to enter Bangladesh. The types and categories of visa differ according to the purpose of visit, length of stay and bilateral arrangement between Bangladesh and the country of nationality of the intending visitor.


Nepali Citizens

A Nepali national intending to visit Bangladesh for tourism may get a 30 days single entry visa once a year (without any fee) at any international airport in BangladeshFor subsequent visits within a year, visa fee is applicable depending on duration of the stay and number of entry permits.

However, if the purpose of travel is for studying, doing business or working in an organization, it is advisable to take an appropriate visa. 


Procedure

Upon receiving an application, Bangladesh Embassy determines the type and category of visa and duration of stay. Fees may vary with type and duration of visa.


Important things to know before applying for visa

  • At the time of visa application, the passport should have validity of at least 6 months.
  • The fee submitted at the time of application is non-refundable.
  • Some visa categories require a through and time consuming process of examination.
  • Applicant may be called for an interview if it is felt necessary by the visa issuing officer. The Embassy also has the right to ask for any additional documents, if required.
  • Applicants are advised confirm travel arrangements only after obtaining a visa.
  • It takes an average of 3-5 working days for issuing a normal visa (Special categories such as N – visa, J – visa etc.) take longer period.
  • Acceptance of visa application by the Consular Section does not automatically guarantee grant of a visa. The Embassy has the right to refuse the application after examination without assigning any reason.


Guideline for Applications

The following documents are necessary to submit application:

  • Printed copy of duly filled-in application form (with bar code) after submission of required information online at www.visa.gov.bd
  • The original passport with validity of at least 6 months
  • A copy of the information page of passport
  • 2 (two) copies of a recent passport size photographs. [The photo should be- (a) clear, with no shadows; (b) of passport-size (55×45 mm); and (c) with the applicant looking straight at the camera]
  • Applicant of below 18 years of age has to submit a written consent from any of parents with copy of parents’ passports / IDs and applicant’s birth certificate/municipality declaration.
  • Proof of deposit of payment of required fees.

Student (S) visa

Visiting on study purpose

  • Invitation/ offer letter from the concerned university/ college/ school (educational institutions having approval by the Government of Bangladesh)
  • For MBBS/ BDS programmes, Equivalence Certificate from the relevant authority in Bangladesh (i. e. Directorate General of Medical Education- DGME)
  • Sponsorship/ Bank Guarantee
  • Academic Certificates/ transcripts to be attested by the Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal
  • Any other certificate as required by the Government of Bangladesh
  • The students are required to be present at the Embassy during submission of their visa applications and subsequent interview. They are advised not to deposit visa fee before their interview at the Embassy.

Tourist (T) visa

Visiting for the purposes of tourism/ meeting with relatives/ religious purpose/ attending non-government seminar/ workshop/ study tour etc

  • Invitation letter from Bangladesh along with copy of ID/ Passport of the person/ organization who invites.
  • For meeting/ seminar/ workshop, consent letter from the sending organization

Visiting for attending meeting, seminar, conference purpose

  • Invitation from the organization in Bangladesh as well as the letter from the company/ organization of Nepal

NGO (N) visa

For Non-Government Organization (NGO) related visit

  • Letter from the NGO Affairs Bureau in Bangladesh
  • Contract letter between the Bangladeshi organization and the applicant/ sending organization

Employment (E) visa

For Investment or Employment purpose

  • Letter from the concerned Ministry/ Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA)  / Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) certifying that the applicant has been appropriately appointed/ employed in the organization.
  • Copy of contract/ employment/ appointment.
  • Introduction letter from the inviting company in Bangladesh

UN (A2) visa

For officers and official of UN/ UN organization/ International/ Regional Organizations etc visiting for working

  • Invitation letter from the concerned organizations in Bangladesh
  • A letter/ Note-verbale from the organization in Nepal


Journalist (J) visa

For journalist/ media personnel who intend to visit on journalism purpose


(After obtaining necessary clearances from the concerned authorities in Bangladesh, this type of visa is issued by this Embassy):

  • Filled-in F-I, F-II Forms & List of equipment form (Click here to download application form)
  • Invitation letter from the organization in Bangladesh
  • Declaration letter with the description of purpose of the shooting, Shooting spot and draft shooting schedule
  • Original passport and necessary payment receipt only after Embassy’s clearance
  • Flight particulars when clearance is conveyed


Sports (P) visa

Visit of sports organizer/ player/ coach/ member of cultural team/ artist/ literate persons for the purpose of attending sports events

  • Recommendation letter from concerned organizations in Bangladesh and Nepal
  • Consent Letter from concerned Ministry in Bangladesh

Research (R) visa

For research purpose

  • Recommendation letter from concerned organizations in Bangladesh and Nepal
  • Consent Letter from concerned Ministry in Bangladesh
Tabligh Ijtema (TI) visa For participation in Bishya Ijtema at Tongi  
Every year, in the second half of January, Muslim community from different parts of the world congregate at the Tongi Ijtema Maidan, Gazipur - 20 km away from the capital city Dhaka.

The Embassy may issue TI visa to any Nepali citizen belonging to Muslim community provided they submit a recommendation letter from the Central Tablig Markaj / Tablig Jamat. Single entry TI visa is usually issued (free of cost) for a highest duration of 130 days, which may be extended by another 20 days provided the applicant would submit a Police Clearance Certificate from the local police authorities in Bangladesh and a recommendation letter from the Markaj / Central Jamat of Bangladesh.
