Buddhist Monastery at Lumbini

In 2018, the Government of Nepal handed over a plot at the Lumbini Monastic Zone to the Government of Bangladesh for construction of a Buddhist monastery as done by eighteen other countries. Bangladesh happily accepted the possession of the plot and decided to construct a monastery, which will have reflections of the rich Buddhist culture and archeological heritage in Bangladesh.

The proposed project will be implemented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh. An agreement for construction of the monastery was signed on 8 Sept 2021 between the Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal and the Vice Chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) on behalf of their respective sides.
