2nd Bangabandhu Youth Conference

The 2nd Bangabandhu Youth Conference on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Climate Change was held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu with participation of 60 youth leaders representing various sectors from Bangladesh and Nepal. Organized in cooperation with the Nepal Bangladesh Youth Conclave (NBYC), the event was inaugurated by Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury.


In his remarks, the ambassador paid deep tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mentioned that Bangabandhu's thoughts and visions on nation building were still relevant for the youths of developing countries like Bangladesh and Nepal. He urged upon the youth to take inspiration from the vision of Bangabandhu and contribute in realizing the targets set in the SDGs and integrate climate change and other environmental issues in the post LDC policy formulations.


NBYC coordinator Abhinav Choudhary and delegation leaders also spoke in the inaugural session. They stressed on the importance of holding such conferences regularly in order to build awareness on social development issues and strengthening people to people connect between the two countries. Such conferences also help in creating opportunities for sharing best practices and experiences and in identifying common solutions.


Eleven presentations on diversified developmental issues- including impact of climate change on nutrition, sustainable cities, child development, role of ICT in solving social problems, pollution, green business, etc. were presented by participants. Later, the participants adopted a ten-point declaration.
