Sheikh Russel Day 2023 celebrated in Kathmandu

18 October 2023, Kathmandu: The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated ‘Sheikh Russel Day 2023’ on the occasion of the 59th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel through various programs. The day’s activities included wreath-laying, reading out messages, documentary screening, painting and poem recitation competition, memorial speech, discussion program and offering of special prayers. In the discussion session, the speakers paid rich tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Russel and all those who were martyred on 15 August. Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury said that Sheikh Russel will live as an ideal for the children and youth of the country. Later, certificates and prizes were given to all the participants in the painting, poem recitation competition and memorial speech. The Embassy also arranged a special meal for an orphanage in Kathmandu.
